Jehangir Wadia or Jeh Wadia has quit the boards of Britannia Industries and Bombay Burmah Trading Corp., withdrawing from all listed businesses of the $15-billion Wadia Group.

Jehangir, 48, in March resigned from Wadia group-owned GoAir as airline’s managing director and a month later, he also stepped down as MD of Bombay Dyeing and Manufacturing Company.

Britannia’s latest annual report last week said Jehangir did not offer himself for reappointment to the board.

“Mr. Jehangir N. Wadia, non-executive director, who retires by rotation at the ensuing AGM (annual general meeting) in terms of Section 152 of the Companies Act, 2013, has not offered himself for reappointment. The board of directors at their meeting held on July 30, 2021, resolved not to fill the resulting vacancy, and the same is placed before the members at the ensuing AGM for their approval,” the annual report said.

Bombay Burmah's annual report also carries an identical notice that says a resolution will be brought before shareholders at its annual meeting.

The Wadia Group’s history goes back to 1736, when it began the business with building ships for the East India Company before expanding into textiles, chemicals, plantations, consumer goods and aviation.
