Indra Nooyi named Corporate America's 12th top-paid woman

NEW YORK: With a full-year pay package of over 12.7 million dollar (nearly Rs 5 crore per month), global food and beverages major Pepsico's India-origin chief Indra Nooyi is the 12th highest paid corporate woman in the US, as per a new list compiled by Forbes.
The list has been topped by Meg Whitman, who recently retired as CEO of world's largest online marketplace eBay, with an annual package of over 120 million dollar - nearly 10 times that of Nooyi.
Whitman is the only person on the list of 100 top-paid women in the corporate America having been paid over 100 mn dollar.
The person ranking last in the ForbesLife Executive Woman's list of the highest-paid corporate women in the US, is Karen O Cottle, General Counsel, Adobe Systems, getting 3.08 million dollar last year.

At the same time, the lowest ranked among the 100 best- paid men in corporate America all CEOs pocketed nearly six-times of this amount at 18 million dollar. According to Forbes, the median salary for the 100 CEOs of the largest US companies, who all happen to be men, is about twice the median salary of the 100 highest-paid women, while the median bonus for men is almost three times that of women.
"The comparison is not perfect not every woman on the list is a chief executive but more of the male paycheck does seem to be variable, dependent on performance and, therefore, at least partly keyed to taking risks," it said.
The report said the list is "yet another indicator that women are not achieving equality at work."
