Indra Nooyi in India on government invite

Indra Nooyi, global chairman & CEO of the New York-based $60 billion beverage and snacks foods manufacturer PepsiCo, is flying to India on a one-day visit on Friday night.

NEW DELHI: Indra Nooyi, global chairman & CEO of the New York-based $60 billion beverage and snacks foods manufacturer PepsiCo, is flying to India on a one-day visit on Friday night.

Ms Nooyi is visiting the country on the invite of the Indian government. Among the world’s most high-profile women CEOs, she will address ambassadors of different countries in New Delhi at a formal dinner on Saturday .

Over 100 Indian ambassadors and high commissioners are gathering for an annual conference of Indian envoys in New Delhi starting Friday, and Ms Nooyi will interact with leaders from the local political and business establishments as well. The three-day annual conference is expected to include sessions on economic policies, ways to create international environment to fuel growth and global security issues.

The short visit is learnt to be a ‘private’ one and Ms Nooyi is not likely to meet PepsiCo employees this time. PepsiCo India’s spokesman could not be reached for comment.

Nooyi last visited India in November ‘09 along with the PepsiCo board for the first-ever three-day global board meet held in the country.
