Indian companies looking to tap technical know how from mature markets

MUMBAI: India will continue to offer good opportunity because of vast talent pool and huge consumer base for service as well as for manufacturing sectors said Vidur Bhogilal, chief financial officer (CFO) of Datamatics Group India.

"We are very young nation and the amount of opportunity we can offer because of our demography, purchasing power, good talent pool and world's largest English speaking population is making us distinct from other countries," said Vidur while addressing the panel discussion ' Investment IN and OUT of India'.

Echoing to Datamatics Group CFO, BR Jaju, Director & CFO, Welspun Corp (WCL) said, "India is offering lots of diversity which is actually helping Indian companies to go abroad and setting up their manufacturing and marketing facilities in different geographies. Also, when you grow in the overseas geography, when one market is not performing well, the other market can help to even out the loss."

Indian firms in IT, specialty chemicals and other allied sector are looking to acquire companies and assets in distress European market. At the very same time many foreign companies are keen to come to India to do business with local partner. "We are witnessing many companies; especially from mature market with technical know how are actively looking to do joint venture with their Indian counterparts," said Mona Bhede, Partner of Mumbai headquartered law firm Dave & Girish & Co. The firm is advising many Indian companies including big corporate such as Tata Group.
