AHMEDABAD: India needs a greater degree of independent and creative thinking and should discourage a culture of conformisim to capture the new growth dynamism coming into play in Asian economies.
"Asian economies are at a transition point where they must prepare themselves for the next stage of growth-based on innovation and rising total factor productivity," Financial Advisor to the Prime Minister C Rangarajan said at conference organised by Association of Asia Pacific Business Schools (APPBS) and Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A).
Effective resource management was the key to accelerate economic growth and improve productivity, Rangarajan said.
Many Asian companies aspired to become multinational corporations, which placed new demands on the nature of management education, he said.
"Internationalisation of faculty and curriculum" would have to be done, Rangarajan said.
