MUMBAI: If there were any doubts about corporate India’s commitment to environment conservation, they were erased during the conference on energy efficient data centres organised by IBM in association with The Economic Times in Mumbai on Thursday. India Inc’s concern for environment and commitment to increasing its energy efficiency shone through at the event, which was attended by the head honchos of various corporates’ IT wing.

This was followed by a panel discussion, where the eminent panelists — Dr Sumit Chowdhury, chief information officer, Reliance Communications, Jyothi Satyanathan, VP, Unix System, South Asia, IBM, Chandrashekhar Nene, VP, IT, Kingfisher Airlines; Ram Sambasivan, senior VP, IT, HDFC Bank; Jonathan Steel (also moderator for the session), CEO, The Bathwick Group; Sanjay Khanna, head-SSGT, ICICI Bank; Steve Cole and Professor Deepak Pathak of IIT Bombay — discussed the challenges that we are faced with in reducing power consumption of their data centres and methods to overcome the same.

They also highlighted the steps taken by their organisations to save power at their data centres and reiterated their commitment to further enhancing their energy efficiency.
