India Inc rejoices as Paralympians bag medals

India Inc roots for the champions as India marches forward in Olympics and Paralympics with zeal. From SUVs as gifts to sponsorship, big names are showering incessant support and appreciation.

Anand Mahindra recently tweeted that Deepa Malik (athlete) had suggested that SUVs be developed for those with disabilities like the one she uses in Tokyo.

When Avani Lekhara won India's first ever gold in shooting (or any para sport), he mentioned that he requested the development head R Veluswamy to rise to that challenge as he's like to gift the first one to Avani Lekhara.


He wanted to dedicate another one to India's second Paralympic gold medalist, Sumit Antil as he requested Pratap Bose, Mahindra chief design officer to "design another Javelin edition of XUV700 for this incredible sportsperson." This comes after him having announced a present for gold medalist Neeraj Chopra as well.

The tremendous support from India Inc comes riding on the back of inclusive changes to support para sports. Vikram Kirloskar appreciated discus thrower silver medalist Yogesh Kathuniya.

On the other hand, Rajeev Chaba, President and MD of MG Motor India applauded table tennis silver medalist Bhavina Patel. "It is our honour and privilege to gift her a customised SUV."

“We live in an era which believes in storytelling and there are very strong stories that these athletes bring to the party," said Harish Bijoor, marketing expert explaining how opting for para-sports champions might actually make sense. (With Inputs from TOI)
