PUNE: A study commissioned by EY shows that Indian organisations are ahead of their global peers when it comes to having an advanced analytics strategy, with 34 per cent of the companies surveyed having a strategy in place, as against 30 per cent globally.

According to Gautam Bhattachharya, National Analytics Leader, EY India, one reason is that Indian enterprises are leapfrogging the analytics journey is because we've always used analytics.

"Analytics has always been used, but in silos; we are seeing faster collaboration now. Also efficiencies will always be needed because the compe tition is so intense, which has triggered a faster adoption. We see companies that are operating in a competitive or a global landscape, or industries where all the levers of growth have been exhausted, adopt analytics faster," he said.

There are a few aspects that are common to Indian organisations that have a successful analytics strategy in place. The most important is that it has to be central to their business strategy and driven by the business, not the CIO.
