Idea Brand Equity Quiz: Endeavour Careers wins Ahmedabad round

AHMEDABAD: It was a liberal splash of business history, curiosity-evoking jargon from the industry and quirky references from Bollywood and cricket as Idea Brand Equity Quiz posed a challenge to corporate teams from Gujarat. As the quiz master, Derek O'Brien took the centre stage, he immediately managed a mesmerising sway that lasted for over two hours.

The evening began with the teams comprising brand managers, consultants and sales professionals checking in at the venue well before the scheduled start. As the audience, which included the vocal supporters and colleagues of the teams, trooped in, the stage was set at the Grand Bhagwati hotel for a stimulating round of contest between 18 teams that included the likes of SBI, Zydus Welness, Gail India, GSPC Gas, Deloitte and others.

The preliminary round saw the contenting teams being exposed to a total of 30 questions that touched upon different topics. Teams from Gujarat Gas, Triton Communications, Endeavour Careers, Vodafone, MTS and Reckitt Benckiser made to the final six. The team from Endeavour Careers who had topped the preliminary round took the early lead as teams crossed swords and the atmosphere became tense.

Teams from Gujarat Gas and Reckitt Benckiser were the first to exit. The ensuing buzzer round narrowed the teams, making the final round, a direct contest between the more experienced team from Triton Communications and the agile participants from Endeavour Careers. The nail-biting round consisted of just four questions, and a thin margin saw Endeavour making it to the final round to be hosted in Mumbai in November. “Our association with a company that trains MBA aspirants helped us clinch the Ahmedabad leg,” said Meghashyam Shirodkar from Endeavour Careers.
