"HR without industrial relations would create problems"
COIMBATORE: Focusing on human resource without taking industrial relations into account would create lot of problems, Tamil Nadu Additional Commissioner Labour P Marimuthu said today.

"They are aplenty, particularly because of the growing number of migrant workforce. The department has undertaken a migrant mapping study and there is no data on the exact number of migrant workers," he said, highlighting some of the recent trends in ;Industrial Relations issues'.

He was participating in the 8th Edition of HR Conclave, organised by the local chapter of CII.

Inaugurating the Conclave, M Manickam, Chairman and Managing Director of Sakthi Automotive Group said an organisation would have to evolve a broad-based reward scheme and motivate its people to meet the aspirations of a transient workforce.

He emphasised the importance of value creation - both from the point of view of the company as also the individual.

"The present day youth are neither loyal to their employers nor are they motivated. Hiring them for a package that does not meet their expectations make them hop jobs. At the same time organisations cannot afford to pay hefty sums for people with no prior experience".

Some of the participants felt that money or compensation, though important, was not the only criteria for someone to join an organisation.

The job seekers assess their growth prospects in the company and so does the employer, by looking into the kind of value creation in engaging them, they said.
