HMD Global CEO Arto Nummela resigns

The Finnish company said the decision was reached by mutual agreement between Nummela and the HMD Global board of directors.

NEW DELHI: Arto Nummela, CEO of HMD Global, which designs and sells Nokia brand of smartphones and feature phones globally, stepped down on Wednesday with immediate effect.

The Finnish company said the decision was reached by mutual agreement between Nummela and the HMD Global board of directors. Florian Seiche, the company’s president, has been appointed as acting CEO.

“Nummela has played a key role in the creation of the HMD Global operation, building the team and launching our first products,” Sam Chin, chairman of HMD Global Oy, said in a statement.

The company’s India leadership remains unchanged, a spokesperson said.
