He's a blogger and he stays in a wi-fi home

In a candid interaction, Ravi Aggarwal, president of imaging & printing group, Hewlett-Packard (HP) India, talks tech sans the jargon. He likes to keep it simple when it comes to technology.
To revel in the golden times, he listens to old music on his iPod Nano. “After a hard day’s work, music helps me in unwinding,’ he says. His iPod also keeps company whenever he is lonely.
He changes his mobile handset once a year. At present he is using a Nokia 7610. And he seems to love it. “It’s web enabled, has a good memory and is simple to use,” he states. His notebook is a Compaq 6400.
It’s technology at home too for Mr Aggarwal though he ensures that he shouldn’t get tech overdose. His home is wi-fi enabled. “My son is more tech savvy than me, so he made sure that every corner of our house is wi-fi enabled,” he tells enthusiastically. For this net savvy business head too 24-hour connectivity seems to be important as he receives 200 e-mails a day.
However he sends only 30-40 e-mails a day. He believes in ‘personal touch’ which technology often dilutes. “A hand shake or a hand written note always scores over an e-mail or SMS.” But he’s quick to add that technology can also be used to bond with family and team mates. “Video conferencing is an example how technology can bind us together,” Mr Aggarwal explains.
Blogs today have become a rage among netizens. Mr Aggarwal too is a part of the blog world, though he’s still a passive member and not an active one. “At present I only read blogs, soon I will write my own blog. It’s an innovative and a powerful medium.” He also believes social networking sites help in generating good user content.
He is not planning to buy any new gadget in near future, though like everyone else wouldn’t resist buying the iPhone. For him technology is important as it enables him to stay in touch with his family no matter where he is.
