KOLKATA: The West Bengal government is seriously considering a plan by Reliance Industries Limited to revive state-owned Haringhata Dairy with Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee saying that the proposal by the Mukesh Ambani group company was the most attractive.
Bhattacharjee, who had a meeting with Ambani for over two hours here on Thursday, said that Reliance submitted an attractive proposal for revival of the Haringhata Dairy.
"The Indonesian Salim group, an Australian company besides Ambani surveyed the site and submitted proposals, but Ambani's proposal is more attractive," he said, adding that the selection of a private partner for revival of the dairy would be decided soon.
The state government had earlier said that it was planning to approach British government's Department for International Development.
Haringhata dairy, spread over 2000 acres in Nadia district, has poultry, piggery, a frozen semen station, breeding farm, cattle farm and goat farm.
