Grasim invested Rs 74,000 cr as capex in last 5 years: Kumar Mangalam Birla
The flagship company of the Aditya Birla Group remains among the few private sector enterprises to consistently invest in India's future, said Birla in the latest annual report of the company.
This sustained investment strengthened capacity, enhanced capabilities, expanded the company's presence in high-growth sectors and created platforms to serve a "more ambitious, self-reliant and rapidly evolving India," he said.
"Over the past five years, the company has invested nearly Rs 74,000 crore in capital expenditure across its businesses, reflecting not only our confidence in long-term demand but also our deep trust in India's growth potential," said Birla.

Birla said FY 2025-26 was a milestone year for the Aditya Birla Group, with its large manufacturing businesses consolidating leadership positions, newer ventures scaling with conviction, and legacy consumer businesses being reshaped for a new phase of growth.
The company posted its highest-ever consolidated revenue of Rs 1,75,431 crore, up 18 per cent year-on-year, while consolidated EBITDA rose 29 per cent to Rs 25,872 crore, he said.
"This performance was also reflected in the capital markets, with Grasim's share price reaching an all-time high during the year and significantly outperforming the benchmark indices across key time horizons," Birla said.
On the group's paints venture, he said Birla Opus had emerged as the number 3 player in the Indian organised decorative paints industry within a short span of its launch and was progressing towards the second position, with consumer awareness crossing 90 per cent.
The group's B2B commerce platform, Birla Pivot, was within striking distance of its revenue guidance of Rs 8,500 crore, a full year ahead of plan, he said.
Group company UltraTech Cement crossed 200 million tonne per annum of total grey cement capacity in April 2026, becoming the largest cement company in the world outside China, up from a capacity of about 52 MTPA in 2011, according to the report.
"From a capacity of approximately 52 MTPA in 2011 to more than 200 MTPA today, UltraTech has quadrupled its scale in just over a decade," Birla added.
Expressing confidence in the sector's outlook, Birla said India's infrastructure, housing and manufacturing growth would continue to create significant opportunities for the cement industry.
"We remain confident that India's infrastructure, housing and manufacturing growth will create significant opportunities for the sector. With unmatched scale, a trusted brand, and industry-leading capabilities, UltraTech is uniquely positioned to capture these opportunities and create sustainable long-term value," he said.
Incorporated in 1947, Grasim started as a textiles manufacturer. It has evolved into a leading diversified player with leadership presence across many sectors. It entered into paints business through brand 'Birla Opus' recently.
Through its subsidiaries UltraTech Cement, Aditya Birla Capital, and Aditya Birla Renewables, it is also India's prominent cement producer, leading diversified financial services player and clean energy solutions player.
