At two recent soirees in the capital, there were hushed discussions about a dozen high-profile names that could shortly get an airing in the AgustaWestland case. These are said to include rice barons, infrastructure scions, financial services honchos and extended families of an industrialist clan with deep political links.

Visitors to Anil Agarwal’s posh new office in London’s Buckley Square have been pleasantly surprised by the great new decor and vibe, not something one would typically associate with a metals and mining magnate. It’s also home to an art gallery downstairs that’s frequented by the posh frat. But if you have global aspirations and are on the prowl for a blue-blooded mining powerhouse, optics matter as much as the cheque you put on the table.


Lost in Translation?
One of Mumbai’s most eligible bachelors and scion of the city’s business elite who also co-owns a cricket team was unavoidably detained in Japan recently. His father and brother cancelled all engagements including board meetings to fly there and sort out the mess. Government officials however said they have no information about any cover-up.

Divine Intervention
In the middle of his whirlwind book tour, interviews and powwows with his powerful business buddies in Delhi, Rajat Gupta was spotted at a glamping tent at the Kumbh Mela. Many of his longstanding cohort of admirers were missing in action in the financial capital to cheer him on, so a holy dip perhaps may have come in handy.

Unstoppable Woman
Ananya Birla is arguably the most trolled heiress in town. Mocked for her singing talent or for being just a rich man’s daughter, she often gives as good as she gets. In that vein, she’s issued a new single Unstoppable exactly on that subject. Despite a last-moment technical snag leading to a delay, the music video was up and about just in time for International Women’s Day. Her dedication: “They say that well-behaved women rarely make history, so I dedicated this song to all the fierce females past and present who broke the rules!”
