MUMBAI: India’s large pool of talent and the startup boom means that there are many potential Tata Consultancy Services out there, waiting to happen, S Ramadorai said as he accepted the award of Lifetime Achievement at the ET Corporate Excellence Awards.

Ramadorai was TCS’ Chief Executive Officer from 1996 to 2009 and he stayed as Vice Chairman of the board until 2014. He is also now chairman of the Indian operations of AirAsia, a venture that marks the Tata Group’s return to the aviation industry.

He also heads the National Skill Development Corporation and advises the prime minister in ways that India can benefit from its demographic dividend.

“The bigger the challenge, the harder technology has to work to solve it. We live in a more integrated world and the scale and time in which we live makes this a great time to be young and in India. It is also great to be old and in India, because I am still excited by these challenges,” Ramadorai said in his speech.

He thanked the Tata Group, the TCSers who worked to make the company successful and his wife who ‘puts up with his eccentricities.’ He also wished TCS ‘stardom forever.’
