There is an acute need for economic, political and labour reforms globally, Jaspal Bindra, group executive director and chief executive officer of Standard Chartered Bank - Asia said.

He was speaking at the ET Awards for Corporate Excellence, bringing the power-packed evening to a close.

“(But) India has a unique advantage as corporate and financial institutions in the developed world are struggling to either adapt or adopt to the new and developed policies,” he said.

“India’s economy, though suffering from some near-term headwinds, has a feasible and time- bound solution,” Bindra said. “Corporate India, over the past two decades, has been willing to embrace reforms.”

“In sharp and positive contrast to the countries in the West that have structural problems, India’s underlying strengths are well known and present a compelling case for optimism and investment,” he concluded.
