Essar Steel, BHEL among others bag ICWAI awards

NEW DELHI: Ruias-promoted Essar Steel, Bhel, L G Electronics (India), J K Tyre and Industries, GAIL and SAIL are among the companies which have been awarded by the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India for their excellence in cost management.
These awards were given under various categories like private sector large, medium and small manufacturing organisation and public sector large, medium and small manufacturing organisations.
Other companies winning the awards are Neyveli Lignite Corporation, Bharat Electronics, Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Paper Limited, Tuticorin Port Trust.
Speaking at the award distribution function, Corporate Affairs Secretary Anurag Goel said the main objective of the award is to encourage the organisations in emphasising their focus on areas of cost management more vigorously.
Stressing on corporate governance, he said transparency in company's governance policies is critical, but "too few companies are genuinely transparent".
