Delhivery has launched 'Abhyam', a comprehensive welfare program for its 1 lakh frontline workers

Mumbai: Logistics operator Delhivery on Monday announced comprehensive welfare programmes for its 1 lakh frontline workforce, offering them accidental insurance of up to Rs 15 lakh, family health cover, and children's scholarships, among other benefits.

Noting that frontline, or gig, workers are a critical part of India's economy and among the most financially exposed, where a single hospitalisation can wipe out months of earnings, the company said the programme, Abhyam, addresses these through a comprehensive support framework.

Apart from accidental coverage, Abhyam includes health insurance, and income-loss protection, ensuring that an unforeseen incident on the road does not escalate into a financial crisis, Delhivery said.

The programme extends benefits to families. Scholarships for children, vocational training for spouses, and access to formal credit are some of the other incentives under the scheme.

The company will also provide health cover up to Rs 5 lakh, which will be extended to spouse and up to two children.

"Abhayam is our attempt to deliver for them. We believe this programme is the best in class in India and ensures that our workers provide the best possible service while their health and family are taken care of," said Suraj Saharan, Executive Director and Chief HR Officer, Delhivery.
