Delhi to run in Vodafone Half Marathon

About 28,000 participants will run in the third Vodafone Delhi Half Marathon slated for October 28.

NEW DELHI: With an all new category for corporates and increased prize money, a record 28,000 participants are set to run for various charitable causes in the third Vodafone Delhi Half Marathon slated for October 28.

The venue for the race's start and finish has been shifted from the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium to the Central Secretariat Grounds on Vinay Marg.

The annual event has added a new category for corporates -- the Corporate Sporting Challenge -- this year.

The participation in this category has been restricted to just 15 teams and the relay race will have four-member teams from various companies competing for a newly-instituted trophy.

The prize money for the 21 km marathon has also been hiked to USD 1,60,000 -- an increase of USD 10,000. The men's event winner will get USD 20,000, while the women's winner will be richer by USD 18,500.

The top-10 Indian finishers among the overall winners will be awarded separately. The Indian number one in both the men's and women's category will get USD 2,500 irrespective of their position in the overall standings.
