The Delhi High Court has dismissed a criminal complaint. Samir Modi withdrew his case against his mother, Bina Modi. This followed a settlement between them. The case involved an alleged assault on Samir Modi. He claimed he was physically assaulte...

Samir told Justice Saurabh Banerje that he has withdrawn his complaint against his mother, who is also Godfrey Phillips India's chairperson and managing director, after mutual settlement between them.
However, the court noted that there was no settlement deed and no amount was mentioned as the basis for the compromise.
The family has been engaged in a legal battle over the control of their business empire.
The case relates to an incident in May 2024 when Samir attempted to attend a board meeting of Godfrey Phillips India and was allegedly stopped by his mother's personal security officer, Surendra Prasad, who claimed to be acting on her instructions. Samir had alleged that he was physically assaulted during the confrontation, resulting in a fractured finger that required surgical intervention.
In February this year, the trial court took cognisance of the matter and held that there was sufficient prima facie material suggesting possible involvement or a common intent among the accused. Consequently, it issued summons to Bina and others on Samir's plea.
