Cyrus Mistry may file for interim injunction in Bombay High Court
MUMBAI: In what may just be the beginning of a court case between Mumbai’s oldest business families, Cyrus Mistry will challenge his removal as Chairman of the Tata group in the Bombay High Court.

Mistry, say people with direct knowledge of the matter, would be filing interim injunction in Bombay High Court. “The fight would be over the articles of association of Tata Sons. While Mistry’s side would argue that the removal was unjustified, other side is set to challenge it,” a person with direct knowledge of the matter said.

Mistry has roped in two senior lawyers from law firm Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas for the same. The senior lawyers, Shuva Mandal and Ameya Gokhale from the firm are helping Mistry for the case, said a person in the know.

On Tuesday morning, senior litigation lawers including, Harish Salve, Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Kapil Sibal who were representing Tata Group had met lawyers representing Mistry. “The battery of lawyers met at Taj Colaba but the discussions did not go as intended,” another person in thick of things told ET.

Iqbal Chagla, whose daughter is married to Mistry was also present at the meeting, the source told ET. “Chagla may not fight the case,” the source said. In the morning meeting at Taj Colaba, Apurva Diwanji, a partner with Desai and Diwanji was also present at the discussions.
