A recent Deutsche Bank research report compared prices of commonly used products and services across the world. It threw up some really interesting results.
While emerging economies like India were predictably cheaper than developed ones, there were startling exceptions. The price of a loaf of sliced bread has gone up by ten times in the last ten years. In India, it has gone up by about 1.6 times. In Paris, it’s up two and half times.
Indian cities like Mumbai and Delhi are among the cheapest places to eat a pizza or guzzle beer. India is also among the cheapest places for services like taxis.
India is a great place for broke lovers. Getting a bouquet of red roses delivered at the doorstep of your lady love is way cheaper in India as compared to the UK, US and China. Russians Lotharios have it the worst.
Malaysia is amongst the cheapest places to buy an iPhone 4S (16 GB). A model of the phone costs only 75% the US price. The BRIC countries are among the costliest to buy the handset. India prices are about 139% of US prices; Russia at 169%. Even though iPhones are assembled in China, they are cheaper in Malaysia or the US.

For example, for five hotel room rates, it has used tariffs of king or queen-sized rooms for a day in mid-November for the Hyatt Group of hotels. For pizzas prices, it has chosen the prices of one large pan chicken supreme pizza from Pizza Hut outlets worldwide)
