​Coal India chairman, Sutirtha Bhattacharya receives Best CEO-PSU awards from Forbes

KOLKATA: Sutirtha Bhattacharya, chairman, Coal India was conferred the Best CEO -PSU Award in the Sixth edition of the Forbes India Leadership Awards – 2016 for having engineered the turnaround of Coal India by streamlining its operations with advanced technologies and also addressing environmental concerns.

“Bhattacharya was the unanimous choice of the jury for the award in the PSU category for his leadership qualities and vision,” Coal India said in a statement.

Forbes Leadership Awards are given to leaders who have responded to persistent challenges with reinvention, innovation and admirable energy.

Bhattacharya said "The award is, in fact, a tribute to the company. It is recognition for the way it is adapting itself to newer challenges and changes with readiness, reinventing its function of ease of doing business and innovating consumer friendly strategies as business objectives. It is with the support of all Coal India subsidiary companies that this glory could be achieved. I dedicate this award to all Coal Indians".
