CII forms group to guide Indian MNCs
Indian cos aspiring to go global can now have guidance from their peer group establised by CII
CII in partnership with eminent business leaders today launched the programme India Inc Going Global.
Speaking about the CII initiative, CII Indian MNCs committee Chairman D S Brar said, "the programme will develop actionable agenda to face the challenges of Indian companies aspiring to go global."
Led by an initial set of five companies, including Infosys Technologies, ICICI Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bharat Forge, McKinsey & Company and Prof Tarun Khanna of Harvard Business School, a core set has been created to steer the programme, CII said.
Initially the programme has been organised into three operational entities called `clusters' based on functional areas for common challenges and opportunities faced.
Each of these clusters, led by an anchor company, will co-evolve the set of services that will be of common interest to the cluster members.
'The Leadership Development & Talent Manangement' cluster would be led by Infosys, 'India Advantage' would be led by Mahindra & Mahindra and 'Inorganic Growth' by ICICI Bank.
"The programme aims at creating a sustainable ecosystem, which will create a peer network for sharing other's experiences," Co-founder of Infosys Technologies S D Shibulal said.
"The focus of the inorganic growth cluster will find solutions and help corporates put these facilitating fundamentals in place," ICICI Bank's MD Chanda Kochhar said.
"For the momentum in outwardly bound M&A deals to continue, a lot of facilitating is required in the form of funding, structuring, training, valuation exercises, understanding country risk and managing the entire financing," Kochhar said.
The core set members include D S Brar; Jalaj Dani, MD, Asian Paints; Rajeev Dubey, President(HR), Mahindra & Mahindra; Amit Kalyani, ED, Bharat Forge, Tarun Khanna; Chanda Kochhar, MD, ICICI Bank; S D Shibulal; Adil Zainulbhai, MD, McKinsey & Company.
The first meeting of this programme was organised today and would meet every quarter in future.
On the occasion Shibulal also launched programme's website www.indiaincgoingglobal.com.
