On Thursday evening, six executive directors of Infosys will step into the offices of The Economic Times in Bangalore as guest editors for a day. The man heading the ET newsroom is none other than their chairman, NR Narayana Murthy, editor-in-chief.
The dapper Nandan Nilekani, CEO, is editor, Business Of Brands. COO Kris Gopalakrishnan takes charge of Emerging Business & IT; K Dinesh will play the lead in our section The Political Theatre; SD Shibulal will handle International and ET Backpage; HR chief TV Mohandas Pai will showcase his dual prowess, chairing sections on Career & Business Life and Finance; and Srinath Batni will lead the ET team for Economy, Finance & Markets.
It took weeks of planning and a visit to the Infosys campus on a Sunday to get Murthy to chair a preliminary news meeting with the ET Bangalore team. Murthy decided on the theme of the issue — The Power Of Execution — and finalised the list of columnists.
He’s been on e-mail ever since, sounding out editors on ideas, while making sure his jet-setting colleagues make it to ET on Thursday. Naturally, for team ET to match the intellectual and creative vigour of the top guns of Infy will be a challenge, something we all look forward to.
