Capella Educore buys assets in south for Rs 350 crore

Anacap Capital backed Capella Educore has acquired education infrastructure including K12 Schools and student housing assets in South for around Rs 350 crore to further strengthen its leadership position in the market.

The firm had recently acquired a leading chain of K12 Schools in Hyderabad with over 6,000 students and over 1,000 additional purpose-built student housing beds for IFIM Institutes at Electronic City, Bangalore.

With this Capella now owns over 12 schools and over 5000 student housing beds. Capella Educore had also created a strategic partnership with Crimson Education, a school operating platform created by Industry veterans.


Crimson was set up with a view to help schools displaced by the Covid onslaught. Crimson has since grown to a 25-school network with over 20,000 students across its campuses.

"Together with Crimson as an operator, Capella is on course to invest over Rs 350 cr additional over next quarter to take the total school portfolio of Crimson to over 35 schools," said Jasmeet Chhabra, managing partner, Cerestra Advisors.

Cerestra Advisors Private Limited, a real estate and education assets focused private equity firm, plans to invest around $100 mn in mid segment schools in tier I and II cities to bail out institutions facing financial difficulties due to Covid-19 pandemic, said a senior official of the fund.

The fund recently entered into a joint venture agreement to acquire and run two schools from builder Kolte-Patil even as the fund has already onboarded 15 schools since September, 2020.
