Cairn CEO Simon Thomson to meet finance secretary Ajay Bhushan Pandey today
Thomson had sought a meeting with finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman during his visit to New Delhi, he said in a video message last week. Sitharaman authorised the finance secretary to meet him and hear out the company.

The meeting assumes significance since India is likely to appeal against the award issued by an international tribunal at The Hague in December last year.
Thomson had sought a meeting with finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman during his visit to New Delhi, he said in a video message last week. Sitharaman authorised the finance secretary to meet him and hear out the company.
“I’ve authorised the finance secretary to talk also; he and his team will meet them. I don’t know what they’re going to say. We’d like to hear them," Sitharaman had told ET in an exclusive interview last week.
The meeting assumes significance since India is likely to appeal against the award issued by an international tribunal at The Hague in December last year.
“Of course, in the sense of the larger principle, that government’s right to tax cannot be questioned,” the FM said, when asked whether the government had decided to appeal the arbitration award. India has a 90-day window to file an appeal, which expires on March 21.
