In an order pronounced on July 7, the court dismissed Atyati's application seeking to restrain Cognizant from using the logo, holding that Atyati had not made a prima facie case of copyright infringement or passing off at this stage.

The court said that while the two logos showed resemblance, the issue in a copyright claim was whether Cognizant had copied Atyati's work, not whether the marks merely looked similar.

The case dates back to 2023, when Atyati, a Bengaluru-based technology company, had argued that its "ATYATI" device mark, adopted in 2019, was copied by Cognizant's logo launched in 2022.
