CHENNAI: Despite bots and other workplace automation tools making Indian workforce nervous about their job security, almost 80% of the country's professionals want their routine tasks to be automated, compared to a global average of 51%. In a survey of around 10,000 professionals worldwide (10% Indian workers) by robotics process automation firm Automation Anywhere, Indian participants emerged as the most excited about experimenting with automation to reduce workload with 98% of them saying so.

At 98%, India ranked highest (along with Singapore) in its openness to deployment of software bots at workplace. Globally, Singapore (98%), Mexico (97%), Brazil (97%), and Korea (90%) are other economies viewing automation as most transformative, and the global average stands at (91%).

Almost 60% of the Indian participants said simple administrative tasks hamper work-life balance by making them stay late at office. India places huge emphasis on productivity and is a value conscious market, which makes automation of routine tasks preferred here, Milan Sheth, executive VP India, Middle East & Africa, Automation Anywhere, told TOI. "The younger workforce is especially self-preserving, and are open to continuously augment their skills."

Automation Anywhere commissioned research firm OnePoll to conduct around 10,500 interviews with workers in 11 countries around the world.
