NEW DELHI: Apple CEO Tim Cook, who landed in Mumbai late on Tuesday night, started his multi-city India tour by visiting the Shree Siddhivinayak Temple at Prabhadevi in the city.

Cook, who was accompanied by Apple India head Sanjay Kaul, also met Anant Ambani, the son of Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani, according to an Indian Express report.

The Siddhivinayak temple visit was soon followed by an early morning meeting with Vodafone India CEO Sunil Sood, and is meeting Tata Group Chairman Cyrus Mistry at the Taj hotel in Mumbai, sources told ET.

Around 3 PM today, TCS CEO N Chandrasekaran will also meet Cook at the Taj Hotel, which will be followed by some other meetings as well.

The smartphone major today also launched an ambitious plan to tap into India's startup ecosystem with the iPhone maker announcing plans to set up what it calls a "design and development" startup accelerator in India's Silicon Valley, Bengaluru, at a time when the company is doubling down on India.

Cook, in a statement, said that the new accelerator facility would help iOS developers create innovative apps for the company's customers globally and that the new facility would provide resources to support entrepreneurs.
