In a swift and coordinated operation, Anant Ambani's Vantara actioned a massive mobilization effort from Gujarat, dispatching a convoy of vehicles, including ambulances and feed vehicles, along with a specialized team of personnel, to aid in the rehabilitation of an ailing elephant and her calf in Tripura's Unakoti district. The initiative gained widespread attention after an online video capturing the rescue and rehabilitation process went viral.
Kuntala Sinha, General Secretary of the 'Go Green and Help Stray Animals' organization, expressed gratitude towards Anant Ambani and Vantara's team of doctors for their prompt response, that saved lives. Sinha lauded the rapid deployment of Vantara's team within a day of her reaching out to them for assistance in treating the distressed elephants.
Covering an impressive 3,500 kilometers in mere 24 hours, the convoy traveled from Jamnagar to Tripura to provide vital care for Pratima and her calf, Maniklal. Following initial treatment, the elephants were relocated to Kailashahar, Tripura, where they remained under observation for several weeks before being transferred to Vantara in Gujarat for further rehabilitation.

Upon examination by a veterinary surgeon from Vantara, Pratima was found to be suffering from multiple wounds, lacerations, severe stiffness in the limbs, and blindness in one eye. Additionally, she was severely malnourished, a condition shared by her calf, Maniklal. The duo's plight raised concerns as they were being held without proper ownership documentation, violating wildlife protection laws, as per a statement released by PETA.

Vantara, meaning 'Star of The Forest,' is a wildlife preservation initiative spearheaded by Anant Ambani and supported by Reliance Industries and Reliance Foundation. Nestled within the expansive Jamnagar Refinery Complex spanning 3,000 acres, Vantara serves as a sanctuary for animals facing abuse, injury, or extinction threats.
