Amit Shah to give keynote address at ET Awards 2019

NEW DELHI: India Inc’s toughest and smartest, companies and business leaders who shone amidst a slowdown, will receive India’s premier corporate awards on November 30, in Mumbai. And adding policymaker heft and political star power to the 2019 edition of the Economic Times Awards for Corporate Excellence will be the Narendra Modi cabinet's most powerful and influential member, Home Minister Amit Shah.

Shah will give the keynote address at the event. Corporate India’s who’s who will hear from a minister who has not only demonstrated his ability to break the mould on matters of national security but also heads a number of key ministerial groups tasked with solving crucial economic policy questions.

Shah continues to be BJP’s chief electoral strategist despite his heavy ministerial remit. And, refreshingly for audiences who often hear circumlocutory politicians, he is famous for plain speaking.


Therefore, his keynote speech to India’s business captains at a time the economy and the government’s policy response are on everyone’s mind, cannot be anything other than highly anticipated.

The home minister’s audience, as is the case in every ET Awards, will be men and women who own and/ or run some of India’s biggest and most consequential businesses. And a few among them are winners of this year’s ET Awards.

There’s Sanjiv Mehta, MD of Hindustan Unilever, winner of the Business Leader of the Year Award. Mehta runs an FMCG behemoth that navigates business cycles with great nimbleness. There’s Entrepreneur of the Year, Sriharsha Majety, the young cofounder and CEO of Swiggy, the online food delivery enterprise that has changed how India eats. There’s Falguni Nayar, Businesswoman of the Year and CEO and founder of Nykaa.com, the beauty products etailer that disproved all pundits and added a special gloss to online marketplaces.

And there’s the man who made India believe that a public sector-built world class infrastructure project is possible – ‘metro man’ E Sreedharan, winner of this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
