NEW DELHI: The aftermath of hijack of IC-814 to Kandahar, the 9/11 attack and the foiled Glasgow airport bombing in UK has made aviation and airport security a desirable business for private security companies.
With the creation of ultra-modern metro and non-metro airports, the external security of airport terminals as well as passenger safety are raking in new avenues and money for private security companies and their promoters.
Static guarding, beat patrol, special events, risk protection services, man-guarding, facility management, cleaning and baggage handling are some of the services that private security companies are offering to airport hubs and their allied installations.
"In the next five years Indian aviation would be growing by leaps and bounds. Security is a very vital component of these developments and hence we are here to offer our best services for our patrons, who ultimately are the passengers," says Regional Marketing Director of G4S (Group 4 Securicor), Rehana Qureshi.
"We will be bidding for our presence in the upcoming 35 non-metro airports and other new airport projects. We have also started our services at the newly inaugurated Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Hyderabad and would soon start manning the new Terminal-3 of Delhi airport," Senior Vice President (Sales and Marketing) Anil Dhawan says.
The company is already manning the external security of Terminals 1 and 2 at the Delhi airport.
