Under India's AI leadership framework, seven thematic working groups - termed "Chakras" - are being structured around three guiding "Sutras": People, Planet and Progress, a senior MEA official said.
The Human Capital Chakra will address the rapid transformation of work driven by AI, focusing on equipping people with skills and digital literacy to adapt to evolving employment landscapes.
The Inclusion for Social Empowerment Chakra aims to correct the imbalance in AI systems that currently reflect limited linguistic and cultural contexts. It seeks to promote locally relevant, culturally sensitive and inclusive AI development.
The Safe and Trusted AI Chakra will focus on governance tools and frameworks to ensure safety, accountability and democratic access to AI oversight mechanisms, particularly for developing nations.
The Resilience, Innovation and Efficiency Chakra will examine the environmental footprint of AI and the widening technological divide resulting from the high resource intensity of advanced AI systems.
The AI in Science Chakra is designed to foster inclusive scientific partnerships, expand AI research ecosystems in the Global South and ensure collaborative access to innovation.
The Democratising AI Resources Chakra will address concentration of datasets, compute capacity and advanced models in a handful of countries and corporations.
The AI for Economic Growth and Social Good Chakra will explore AI applications in sectors such as healthcare, education and agriculture to accelerate development outcomes.
The summit, running from February 16-20 with associated events, is expected to bring together 20 heads of state or government, 45 ministers, 30 vice-ministers and representatives from 65 Global South countries.
More than two lakh participants have registered for the summit and related events. An exposition will open on February 16, followed by a hackathon on February 17 involving 2,500 women participants. The main summit will be inaugurated on February 19 and include plenary sessions and a CEO forum. A dinner will be hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
