Adani will provide clean energy to Google from its solar-wind hybrid energy plant located at Khavda, which is the world’s largest renewable energy park. The project is expected start commercial operations in third quarter of 2025.
“This innovative collaboration will help advance Google’s 24/7 carbon-free energy goal by ensuring cloud services and operations in India are supported by clean energy and thereby contribute to the sustainable growth of Google in India,” the Ahmedabad-based group said in a statement on Thursday.
Last week, Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone and Ambuja Cements joined the World Economic Forum’s ‘Transitioning Industrial Clusters’ initiative, which has advancing decarbonisation as one of its objectives.
Adani Ports plans to have net-zero emissions by 2040, with all its port operations expected to be powered by renewable energy by 2025.
While the upcoming Ambuja unit in Mundra aims to be the lowest-emission-intensity cement production facility globally, the Adani Mundra Cluster will be one of the world’s largest integrated green hydrogen hubs.
In September, Adani Green Energy and Adani Energy Solutions joined the Utilities for Net Zero Alliance, an international platform which aids the process of adopting renewable energy. Both the companies aim to be net-zero on carbon emissions by 2050.
