Leading global IT and professional services company Accenture will cover the cost of Covid-19 vaccination for all its 200,000 employees in India as well as their dependents who are enrolled on the company’s medical benefits programme.

“For employees who are eligible and choose to receive the Covid-19 vaccination, Accenture will cover the cost for the employee and their dependents who are part of our medical benefits program,” said Rekha M. Menon, Chairperson and senior managing director, Accenture in India.

“As we continue to navigate the pandemic, nothing is more important than the health and well-being of our people. At Accenture in India we have continued to monitor and consider the guidance of external experts and groups, including international health organisations and local health authorities. Based on this, we strongly support the scientific and public health advice that encourages vaccination,” said Menon.

ET had reported in January that several top conglomerates and corporates such as the Godrej group, Tatas, Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, Marico, TVS Motor, and Vedanta were gearing up to secure vaccines from manufacturers and suppliers for their employees for the next phase of vaccination.

On March 1, the government’s Covid-19 vaccination roll-out process expanded to include eligible citizens above 60 years of age and 45 to 59 years with specified co-morbidities.

Several companies are ready to absorb the vaccination costs for their employees, according to executives at some of these companies. Industry is also seeking the cost to be covered under the corporate social responsibility spending.
