67 Indian companies to participate in SelectUSA Investment Summit

KOLKATA: Sixty seven Indian companies have expressed their interest for participating in the upcoming SelectUSA Investment Summit to be held from June 20 to 22, 2018, near Washington DC. Of total 67 companies, four companies are from West Bengal that would be attending the summit. Significantly, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee is also scheduled to visit Chicago in September.

"We have come to know that she would be travelling to Chicago. Even though, we do not know much about her travel itinerary, we can also try for some business meetings and exchanges during her visit," said Craig Hall ,U S Consul General .

About the summit, Jonathan Ward, Principal Commercial Officer said that around 10 companies participated from Bengal in the last summit and this year also, more companies from this region are expected.


"Out of the 67-odd respondents nationally so far for this years’ summit, only four are from the east. We expect a higher level of participation as time is still there," Ward said on Friday.

According to Craig Hall, bilateral relationship between two countries is growing at a quick pace and economic ties are a driving force bringing the two countries together.

“Leading the effort to strengthen the business ties are private American investors investing in India and Indian investors starting new businesses in America. SelectUSA is an opportunity for Indian investors to meet potential partners in the US and to learn about support available from the federal and state governments,” Hall said.
