400 CEOs & top ministers raise a toast to excellence
After five years, ET did it again, bringing together the two estranged brothers, Mukesh and Anil Ambani, once more under the same roof. Special Coverage: ET Awards

And the Ambani brothers did not disappoint. Elder brother Mukesh walked up to his younger sibling, shaking him by the hand, a repeat of his 2004 gesture. The elder Ambani also had a warm handshake for nephew Jai Anmol, Anil Ambani’s elder son, who, according to his beaming father, was on his “first day out”. A quick shake, a brief smile and as the shutterbugs clicked away, history was made once again by ET.
Industrialists Anand Mahindra, Kumar Mangalam Birla, Rahul Bajaj and Gautam Singhania, bankers Deepak Parekh, OP Bhatt and Chanda Kochhar and politicians such as Digvijay Singh took their seats along with more than 400 worthies of India Inc, applauding a jovial finance minister Pranab Mukherjee as he gave away India’s most coveted business awards.
The function that saw Bihar’s turnaround champion Nitish Kumar throw a few barbed teasers to the audience, also had Bollywood icon Aamir Khan field questions from the likes of Kumar Mangalam Birla and Anand Mahindra on out-of-the-box ideas that have come to define him and his recent films. A minute and a photo op later, it was the turn of world-renowned CEO coach Ram Charan to share his wisdom with India Inc, and field questions from eager CEOs and notables such as Teri’s RK Pachauri.
Earlier, capturing the resilient spirit of India, road transport and highways minister Kamal Nath raised a toast to the visionaries who kept the country afloat through the gloomy days of last year’s economic slowdown. The baton then was handed over to commerce minister Anand Sharma.
At ET, Sunday is a sleepless night, not just because of the hangover from the presence of the zillion-dollar market cap captains who stayed on to savour dinner and cocktails... it’s also our night to bring the whole evening to you, a second-by-second, pixel-by-pixel account.... Watch out for our special edition slated for January 12, Tuesday.
