15 PSUs adopt integrity pact: Transparency International

Fifteen Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), including Steel Authority of India, have adopted the 'Integrity Pact' aimed at improving fairness and transparency in procurement and contracts, a global NGO said on Sunday.

NEW DELHI: Fifteen Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), including Steel Authority of India, have adopted the 'Integrity Pact' aimed at improving fairness and transparency in procurement and contracts, a global NGO said on Sunday.

"The adoption of the pact would result in substantial improvement in trade practices and is likely to reduce corruption in public dealings," Transparency International India chairman R H Tahiliani said.

Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited, Coal India Limited, Bharat Refractories, National Mineral Development Corporation are some of the other companies in the public sector which has signed the pact.

Tahiliani said an independent external monitor will be appointed to monitor the tender process and execution of the contract for compliance.

Transparency International in association with Oberoi Group of Hotels has instituted two separate annual Journalism awards for the print and visual media for stories exposing corruption in India, a release said today.
