Wife's revenge plan backfires: Bengaluru woman arrested for sending bomb threat to police from husband's phone
A woman in Bengaluru found herself in trouble after her revenge plan backfired. Upset with her husband for breaking her cell phone, she decided to send a hoax bomb threat message to the police. The plan seemed to be working when an IPS officer rec...

The woman, identified as Ramya (name changed), was arrested on Monday but was later released on station bail.
According to the police, Ramya was angry with her husband, Rama (name changed), for objecting to her close friendship with a man from Bihar whom she had met online. After her husband damaged her phone, Ramya contacted her friends using another phone and informed them about the incident. In a bid to teach her husband a lesson, the friends sent her a message stating, 'Series of RDX explosions will take place and people will die'. They also gave her the mobile number of a senior IPS officer, instructing her to forward the message to him from her husband's phone.
The plan seemed to be working when the IPS officer received the WhatsApp message on December 2 at midnight and promptly alerted his colleagues. This incident came shortly after the city had received several hoax bomb threats targeting over 68 schools. However, this particular case was unique as the police had the mobile number of the sender. On December 3, they reached Ramya's house in Anekal town and detained her husband for questioning. "It took some time for Rama to comprehend the situation. We showed him the WhatsApp message, but it had already been deleted from his phone. We informed him of the time and date, and Rama claimed he was asleep at that time. He then contacted his wife and asked if she knew anything about it. Her reaction raised suspicion, and upon questioning, Ramya confessed," explained an investigating officer.
A police team has been dispatched to a village in Darbhanga, Bihar, in search of Ramya's friends. The individuals she had befriended on a dating app are now considered the prime suspects in this case, according to an officer.
