Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) called off their much-awaited open bus victory parade in the city on June 4, citing massive traffic congestion—a situation many locals are calling a “Peak Bengaluru” moment. The parade was planned to celebrate the team’s historic Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 title win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.

RCB Victory Celebration: What was the original plan?

RCB had announced a celebratory parade that would begin at 3:30 PM IST from Vidhana Soudha and end at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. However, with traffic already building up in the city’s Central Business District (CBD), authorities and organisers opted to revise the plan to avoid worsening the situation.

RCB Victory Celebration: Revised schedule

In place of the parade, RCB will now host a felicitation event at the Chinnaswamy Stadium from 5 PM to 6 PM IST. Before arriving at the stadium, players will meet the Honourable Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah, at Vidhana Soudha and proceed directly to the venue.

Entry to the stadium is restricted to those with valid passes. Fans have been advised to avoid driving to the venue and instead use the Metro or other public transport due to limited parking availability in the area.

RCB Victory Celebration: Public advisory and key changes

RCB released an updated plan for fans and attendees:

  • No open bus parade.

  • Felicitation will take place at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium from 5 PM to 6 PM IST.

  • Only pass holders will be allowed entry.

  • Public is advised to avoid the CBD area between 3 PM and 8 PM IST.

  • Metro and public transport are recommended due to traffic and parking issues.

RCB breaks title jinx after 18 years

Tuesday’s win was a historic moment for RCB, who ended their long wait for an IPL trophy after three failed attempts in past finals. Krunal Pandya led the bowling attack with figures of 4-0-17-2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, helping secure a narrow six-run win.

Virat Kohli, who has been part of RCB since 2008, finally lifted his maiden IPL trophy. He finished the tournament as the third-highest run-scorer with 657 runs in 15 matches.

For many Bengaluru residents, the cancellation was a reminder of the city’s chronic traffic challenges. As one fan put it on social media, “RCB beat PBKS, but Bengaluru traffic beat RCB.”
