In a big relief to Bengaluru residents who are fighting against heavy rains, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has announced that water supply to the flood affected areas will be restored today, Wednesday. "Cauvery water supply from the flooded pump house in Mandya district will be restored by Wednesday morning," he said.

According to a ToI report, while water started receding in multiple areas like Rainbow Drive Layout, Sai Layout, Sunny Brooks gated community and other areas, water level began inching up in apartments located near Borewell Road, near Nallurhalli lake.

SDRF has pressed multiple teams into action and deployed 29 boats. The teams have rescued 1,011 people.


BBMP chief commissioner Tushar Giri Nath said 162 lakes in the city are brimming, but flooding is localised between Bellandur and Varthur lakes. The flooding is limited to 5-6sqkm of the 800sqkm area of Bengaluru.

Evacuation operations by State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have increased. By Tuesday evening, NDRF and SDRF teams had rescued over 5,000 persons from flood-affected areas. This includes residents stranded in affluent layouts and tech corridors. The teams have also rescued 6,000 pets and strays, mostly cats and dogs.

IMD has predicted heavy rain in Bengaluru Urban and Rural districts for Wednesday.
