Half of our salary goes into paying rent, and the other half goes into paying taxes," added another user. "In India, no one has accountability. It's better to move to the village, keep low expenses, and let the economy collapse," added one more user in reply.
"Housing costs are eating wages alive in tech cities and I will suggest to go to your hometown and do some freelancing work," one user said in reply to the original post on X.
One more 'garbage' tax for Bengaluru
Starting April 1, property owners in Bengaluru will see a new charge on their tax bills: a garbage user fee. This fee is intended to help improve waste management services, including door-to-door waste collection and garbage disposal. However, the initiative has sparked doubts among residents, who worry about the transparency and effectiveness of the plan. The Karnataka government approved the new fee, which was proposed last November by Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Ltd (BSWML) and sanctioned by the Urban Development Department. It is expected to generate around Rs 600 crore annually, with the potential for higher revenues. The fee will be incorporated into property tax and will vary based on the built-up area, with rates ranging from Rs 10 per month for properties under 600 sq ft to Rs 400 per month for properties over 4,000 sq ft.
