Planning your new year party in Bengaluru? Beware, don't go overboard this time
Among other things, party spots like hotels, clubs and pubs have been told to keep a record of names, phone numbers and other key details of customers who come calling on the night of December 31.

The ensure the safety of both locals and tourists, the security measures will include tough checks on drink-driving, strict traffic regulations and generally increased security during the party hours.
As per the details available so far, the Bengaluru police department has designated 48 checkpoints at different locations for New Year's Eve.
Besides, popular points in the city like MG Road, Residency Road, and Church Street will be kept free of vehicles from 8.00 pm onwards.
Also, all city flyovers will be closed between 11 pm on December 31 and 6 am on January 1.
Authorities have also made provision for a 'Women Safety Island' in Bengaluru -- a secure space for women to party and usher in the new year.
The police will make sure that all parties in the city -- at hotels, clubs and pubs -- end by 1 am. This is part of the police's crowd management plan.
Personnel to be deployed include a total of 5,200 constables, 1,800 head constables, 600 Assistant Sub Inspectors, 600 Sub Inspectors, 160 Inspectors, 45 Assistant Commissioners of Police, 15 Deputy Commissioners of Police, 1 Joint Commissioner of Police, and 2 Additional Commissioners of Police, reports say.
