More rain forecast for 48 hours worries flood-hit Bengalurians

Parts of Bengaluru that were battered by torrential rains for the last couple of days appeared to be slowly returning to normalcy with floodwaters receding in some areas. Residents were seen making attempts to drain out water and remove sludge from their houses and basements. According to local reports, waterlogging has been cleared in most roads, while traffic also almost returned to near-usual levels.
Some residents of flood-hit localities and apartments, who had moved out to safer locations like either relatives or friends' places or hotels are getting back to their homes to assess the damage, and to carry out cleaning work.
Owners trying to attend to or getting their vehicles like- cars and bikes- that were either partially or fully under water due to flooding, were a common sight in parts of these areas.
Bengaluru has been battered by heavy rains for the last couple of days. India's "Silicon Valley" received unusually high amount of rains this monsoon. The city received 162 per cent more rainfall than average since June 1.
Bengaluru has received 135 mm of rainfall between August 31 and September 6. Normally the city received 34 mm of rainfall in this period. From September 5, usually, 6 mm of rainfall is received in 24 hours, but this time 34 mm rains have been received. The south west Monsoon brought 130 mm of rainfall till September 6, however, 317 mm of rainfall has been received, according to statistics released by authorities.
