A woman in Bengaluru has shed light on the harsh realities of the city’s fiercely competitive rental market after losing out on a house she had nearly finalised. Posting under the username @namma_rants on Instagram, she shared a video recounting her experience.

In the clip, she said she had recently moved to the city and had been actively house-hunting. She remarked that losing a potential home felt more painful than losing someone from her life.

She explained that she had spent nearly a month searching for a fully furnished 1BHK. After a long wait, she finally found a place she liked, though it required several compromises while the rent remained unchanged.

According to her, she agreed to almost all of the landlord’s conditions and asked for about an hour to confirm the deal. However, when she called back to say she was ready to pay the deposit, she was told the house had already been rented out.

She added that despite having visited the property only a short while earlier, the landlord informed her that another tenant had already paid the deposit and secured the home.

Expressing her feelings, she said the incident left her deeply saddened. She added that she had been upset since morning and found it difficult to put her emotions into words. She also said she would have to restart her house hunt the very next day.
