Got rejected because I am...: Woman makes presentation to prove she is best roommate during house hunting in Bengaluru; Video goes viral

A Bengaluru woman, Naina, recently went viral on social media after sharing a unique experience she had while house hunting. In a video posted on X with the caption "desperate times call for desperate measures," she explained how she was rejected by flatmates of a “beautiful” apartment in Domlur – all because of her age, 20.

In the video, Naina humorously reflects on her past judgments about friends in their mid-to-late 20s, admitting, “Karma is a b****.”

She goes on to share her story: “I found this gorgeous flat in Domlur and was all set to move in. Everything was going smoothly. I was in Pondicherry, and I kept texting the flatmates to confirm I'd check it out as soon as I returned. But when I visited the place yesterday, I got rejected. Why? Because I’m 20."


Naina also mentioned how she was “hell-bent” on proving to her potential flatmates that she could be the “best flatmate” ever.



"I was acting nonchalant," Naina explained, adding that she reassured the flatmates she wouldn’t be a bother – she doesn’t party, smoke, or drink.

Determined to prove herself as the perfect flatmate, Naina even created a PowerPoint presentation to pitch her case. Among the highlights were her status as an early riser, a non-smoker, a non-drinker, and someone who keeps the house tidy thanks to her remote job. She also emphasized, “I’m not intimidating,” and “If you need your own space, that’s totally fine.”

Despite all her efforts, Naina sighed over the rejection but ended her video with a mix of humor and optimism, saying, “Please pick me as your flatmate. I’m going to cry.”
