Ejipura flyover: From modern marvel to ancient relic, social media finds humor in never-ending construction

The Ejipura flyover in Bengaluru, fraught with delays since construction began in 2017, has sparked online humor and frustration. Comparisons to ancient relics like Hampi highlight the project's prolonged completion timeline, originally set for 20...

A recent viral social media post has once again brought attention to the long-delayed Ejipura flyover in Bengaluru, with netizens responding with humor and sarcasm.

The post, shared by a Bengaluru resident, juxtaposed two images: one of Hampi's ancient bazaar and the other of the under-construction Ejipura flyover. Alongside the pictures, the post cheekily asked, "What do you like more, Bengaluru? Hampi's ancient bazaar or Ejipura's modern flyover?"

This lighthearted comparison quickly captured the attention of users on social media, with many adding their own witty takes on the situation. The long-running construction project, which has become a symbol of frustration for residents, was ridiculed for its never-ending delays.

"At this point, the Ejipura flyover has a certain nostalgic factor," one user joked, while another quipped, "Please get your facts right. The Ejipura flyover is NOT modern. It’s ancient too!"

One particularly sarcastic comment claimed, "The flyover started construction in 1000 BC and is still going in 2025 AD—maybe it’ll be ready by 2100 AD!"

Another user humorously lamented, “You should’ve told me earlier that there's a replica of Hampi in Bengaluru. I just spent thousands visiting the real one last week!”

The Ejipura flyover, which started construction in 2017, has faced numerous delays. Work was halted in 2019 when the contractor went bankrupt, and further progress was hampered by land acquisition issues. Initially set to be completed by 2019 at a cost of ₹204 crore, the project’s completion date has been pushed back several times. The BBMP had previously promised to finish the flyover by March 2024, but now the deadline has been extended once again.
