Bengaluru's elite are being rescued in boats as their Bentleys are washed away

Epsilon - one of Bengaluru's exclusive, uber-rich socities - is home to Wipro chairman Rishad Premji and Britannia CEO Varun Berry among others.

But as of this week, it is home to no-one, with Bengaluru's incessant rains flooding the expensive locale, leaving the city's millionaires marooned.

After the torrential downpour of the past week, boats were sent out to the area to rescue Bengaluru's elite; the society reportedly also houses Big Basket co-founder Abhinay Choudhari and Page Industries (Jockey) MD Ashok Genomal.



Reports suggest property prices in the exclusive community start from Rs 10 crore and rise up to Rs 30 crore, making it some of the most expensive real estate in the country.

Among the many high rollers affected, one of them is Unacademy's Gaurav Munjal, who took to Twitter to share a video of his family being evacuated in a tractor, while also adding that he would try his best to help anyone who reaches out to him.


While the rest of Bengaluru suffers in public, the residents of Epsilon have remained quiet about the devastation, with only a handful of videos showing the damage.

Ishaan Mittal, a managing director at venture capital fund, Sequoia Capital India, tweeted about an evacuation drive of 300 families at his apartment society in Yemlur as basements continued to be waterlogged with no electricity.


In one video, first responders can be heard pointing to submerged and sometimes floating German and Italian cars, making bets on which ones are headed for the scrap heap.

With the city facing some of the worst flooding in recent times, locals are hoping the rich being affected may change the situation going forward.
